Immersive Astronomy & Planetarium Shows by Modal Media
Modal Media is an independent studio creating original, emotionally rich astronomy content for planetariums, classrooms, festivals, and curious minds everywhere.
Blending cinematic sound design, storytelling, and cutting-edge visual tools, we bring the cosmos to life in a way that’s both scientifically grounded and deeply human.
We are currently producing three fulldome shows:
James Webb (working title)
Using real James Webb imagery to reveal the beauty and drama of our cosmos.
Jupiter (working title)
A visual and sonic journey through Jupiter’s storms, moons and magnetic field.
Infinite Scale (working title)
An exploration of size, distance and wonder across the cosmos.
Each show is designed for:
• Fulldome theatres (8K, 4K, or portable domes)
• Online video platforms (trailers, explainers, ambient edits)
• Educational outreach in schools, events or informal science spaces
Modal Media is led by a composer, narrator and audio producer with a background in immersive sound. We use:
• Sound Particles for dynamic spatial audio
• Unreal Engine and DaVinci Resolve for visual development
• NASA, ESA, and JWST public-domain data for scientific grounding
Why we need support
We’re seeking short-term funding to:
• Purchase a projector for testing dome visuals locally
• Support artist development time to complete the first 3 shows
• Begin outreach to planetariums, schools and science centres across the UK
